Lesley, Dave and Jack were able to welcome Lesley and her daughter Helena from Dundee medical school on a gentle run through Scolty Woodlands.
The nine of us enjoyed a pleasant evening run in the the cool refreshing rain. Jack, Rick, Gordon, Mark, Lizzy, Lesley, David, Shirley and Morag wish Steve a speedy recovery with his abs muscle injury. “Come back Steve – all is forgiven!”
Nine runners turned out. Some ran steady routes but the rest ran intervals up the hill through Scolty car park and beyond the kissing gate. This is undoubtedly a great way to train and affords us the opportunity to reform as a group after each interval during the recovery phase.
An encouraging turnout of 16 runners on a lovely running day. Not too hot and a dry summer’s evening that was surely made for running. A few slow recovering injuries and a case of Munro-exhaustion aside, the rest completed a time trial over the 5km and 8km routes as follows;
For the clubs first anniversary, we had a special run through Crathes Castle Estate, which was well attended by 20 runners, including three new arrivals. A special welcome to Lesley, Izzy and Lizzy. After the run we enjoyed a few drinks at Scott Skinners, a formula that certainly needs revisiting in the future.
Tuesday 13 August 2013 marks the first anniversay of the formation of Banchory Running Club. To mark the occasion we’ll be hosting a special run with a social drink after. So on Tuesday 13th at 6.30pm we’ll meet on the Silverbank playing field opposite Morrisons Supermarket, next to Scott Skinners Pub on the north Deeside Road. From there we’ll split up onto the 5km route up to Crathes Castle and back or the slightly longer 8km route which takes us up to the Castle then down to Milton of Crathes and back on Deeside Way, returning to Silverbank via the Morrisons carpark.
After the run, at about 7.30pm we’ll gather at Scott Skinners Pub for a jug or two. Weather permitting, the benches outside should be quite suitable.
Shower facilities are available at the Banchory Sports Centre for little more than a pound for anyone needing to freshen up.
Better turnout tonight with 11 runners. Nice night for a run. All three routes were used, but more and more now using a regular 8km. Talked about next week’s club birthday run. We will all meet at Scott Skinner’s pub in Silverbank and then set off on runs through Crathes Estate, either a 5km or an 8km version. 10km also available.
Dave, Lesley and Bill went out and completed 8 reps of 2 minutes fast alternating with 1 minute recovery. This is a very useful tool in training as it strengthens the legs, improves speed and cuts excess weight fast.
I ran the Crathes Half Marathon Route on Saturday morning. What a lovely day for it. The route can be a bit tricky to follow in places, so I have prepared a route description called Crathes-Half for anyone who would care to practice on the route.
Pleasant summer running enjoyed by Dave, Lesley, Fiona, David I, Ricky, Shirley and Bill. All three routes, (5km, 7km and 8km) were used.
Dave, Lesley and Mark joined together for some interval training on Scolty Hill.
