Club Run – Thurs 17 Nov 2016

A cold, clear night but without wind or rain, made for a pleasant run with good friends. Lesley had a few of us doing the 10k route, or a close facsimile of it, while others chose the popular 8k option. John Mac pulled a muscle coming down Mount Street and was rescued by a helpful resident who was good enough to run him home. Also present were Bill, Sandy, Mark, Rachel, Fiona,Jack and John Mason.

Club Run – Tues 15 Nov 2016

I should have known that advertising this session as a hard fartlek workout would attract runners to attend, because by definition we must be masochists at heart. Lovely to see so many new faces and old with Paul, Fiona, Chris, Bill, Seb, David & Lesley, Elsbeth, Jack, Rick, Rachel, John Mac, Wendy and young Lesley too. Most runners opted for the speed reps or fartleks which we did up and down Burn o’Bennie Road. My GPS measured a distance of 8km over the period, so not a bad stretch.

Remarkably mild weather, it was dry and warm at 8 Celsius.

Club Run – Tues 8 Nov 2016

It could have been a lot wetter than it was, but the rain obligingly dried up resulting in a not unpleasant run. Fiona brought along two new members to the group, so we ended up with baker’s dozen runners on this damp, cold night with Jack, Bill, Mark, Rachel, Rick, Fiona and her two friends Robert and Seb, Liz, Wendy, Helen and both Lesleys. So three new members to our little group, which is just grand.

Club Run – Thurs 3 Nov 2016

A wet evening but still relatively mild, with freezing weather just a forecast away. 10k route enjoyed by Lesley, Mark, Fiona, John and Jack. No matter how hard I sometimes try to run slow, as in a taper period, these efforts amount to naught when running as a small group. It must be the dynamics of running and the psychology of winning that keep us adding pressure to the group in small, infinitesimal increments all the while and in turn and completely subconsciously. Result is we all end up pushing ourselves and enjoying the moment. Thanks for the run team BRC, I loved it.
