Results from the Run Balmoral Weekend 2016

Well done to all who took part in this iconic weekend of sports.

Freezing conditions on Saturday with sleet, snow and hail made for some challenging conditions. Sunday was brighter, but still bitterly cold, especially on the tops.

Congratulations to all our runners who took part in this great event. The weather was about as good as it gets and we all had a ball. I find the course to be quite challenging in a non-lethal sort of way as it is rarely flat, but keeps the athlete running either up or down all the time. I wish I had more time to take photos or admire the view, but there was little of that lying around spare. Arthur had said before the race that he appreciated he was running a marathon only when his legs hurt. Well, mine hurt a lot and even 2 days later I am walking funny, so it must have been a marathon well worth appreciating.

Crathes Half Marathon Results 14 September 2013

There was a fantastic turnout from Banchory Running Club and there were some superb times. The weather could not have been better and the event was well managed. Special thanks to our team of volunteers; Lilly, Fiona, Lesley and Izzy who sacrificed their Saturday to help stage the Half Marathon under the expert guidance of race director Neil Stewart of Running The Highlands fame.

I have to say that of all the races I run over the year, of all distances from 10km to 35.5 miles – the Stonehaven Half is my favourite. I think it’s a combination of the warm weather, great countryside and the hills. Yes, I can do hills, especially if there is a piper on the top bend to help drag out the last reserves of power, but its the last 6 miles in a marathon I really struggle with and of course that’s no issue in this race. I can just run fast without having to fear the total body breakdown of a marathon.
